The HumTum Diaries app guide

Your little world,
clearly explained.

What each space is for, where to find it and what you can do together. This guide covers the redesigned release in preparation; older testing versions may have fewer features.

Phone images are illustrative design previews with fictional demo content. No personal journal, real partner profile or real Community post is shown.

Start with your own account.

HumTum Diaries is designed for adults aged 18 and over in India. Sign in with Apple or Google and complete your personal profile. Your name and date of birth belong to you; shared relationship details belong to the journal.

Create, join or explore

  • Create a journal with its title, beginning date and shared relationship details, or join your partner with their invitation code.
  • The Share code action opens your phone’s share sheet. Your partner enters the code to join; no clickable invitation link is required.
  • Community can be used while signed in without having a partner or a journal.
  • Memories opens first when you launch a fully closed app. Returning from the background keeps your place and selected tab. Creating or joining a journal does not move your existing content.

Memories: the moments you keep.

Your private timeline is for the photos, words and dates that belong to your journal. The circular + button starts a new memory; open an ordinary memory to read, edit or delete it.

  • Add photos, write what happened, choose its actual date and optionally enter a location. Location entry is manual; it does not require GPS.
  • Use the calendar to return to a date. A milestone bell marks memories with reminders.
  • Saved Together experiences appear behind the small activity badge beside a day. Open it to see the original question, answers, game or keepsake, rather than a duplicate ordinary memory.
  • Remove a Together item from the timeline using its saved-keepsake controls. The original activity remains separate.
  • Relationship beginnings and status changes create special keepsakes with annual reminders. Edit the underlying relationship details to update those keepsakes; their timeline cards are not ordinary editable memories.

Deleted memories are available in Recently Deleted for their applicable recovery period. Permanently deleting a photo can remove it from the shared journal; copies already exported to a device remain independent.

Together: play, dream and surprise.

This tab separates things you create yourselves from questions, games and challenges you discover. Each activity keeps its own history and can offer a linked keepsake for your timeline. Before pairing, you can prepare private letter words, bucket items and answer drafts. Joining a journal does not automatically send or reveal that work.

Make something that belongs to you

  • Our bucket lists: create named lists and dated todos. Either partner can add, update, delete or mark an item done; completed wishes are crossed through in the diary-style list.
  • Letters: write private words with an optional photo and an exact future unlock time, defaulting to 9 AM India time. Choose a surprise or a sealed-envelope countdown. Edit, reschedule or cancel before delivery; delivered words become fixed.
  • Two Sides of Us: give a shared recollection its own title and let each person write their own side. Only its author controls their contribution. This stays separate from ordinary memories and the question collection.

Play and discover

  • This or That: answer two-choice couple questions, browse unanswered and answered items and discover each other’s choices.
  • How well do you know me? write preferences and partner predictions in your own words, without multiple-choice options.
  • Question collection: share how you think or feel about a situation, with answered and unanswered collections.
  • Our activities: play short, resumable games such as Memory Match, Date-night Shuffle and Our Silly Story. Resume a paused game or delete a paused session you no longer want to keep. Scores describe that game, not relationship quality.
  • Challenges: pick a real-life activity to try together and record completion using its shared controls.

Daily and weekly moments

The moderator queues a question or a challenge for each period. Daily content changes at 9 AM India time; weekly content changes on Monday at 9 AM. If nothing is queued, the space waits for a moderator update. It does not invent a replacement question. Your completion states show who has taken part. Below Play and discover, open Daily moments or Weekly moments to revisit completed content. Those results stay fixed; add or remove them from the timeline on a date you choose without changing the original answers.

Sealed letters and unrevealed game answers deliberately stay private until their reveal rules are met. A notification is an alert, not the clock that unlocks a letter. Your partner adding an answer can send an activity alert when that category is enabled.

Community: a separate shared space.

Community is for signed-in adults, including people without a partner. It has Stories, Questions and My space; My space brings together your posts and your answers.

  • Stories: read, react and report. Stories do not accept comments or answers.
  • Questions: write standalone answers. Questions can include a single-choice poll, with one vote per account and aggregate results after voting or closure.
  • Identity: Anonymous is the default. A nickname or public name is optional and previewed before posting. Your private profile, partner connection and journal photos do not become your Community identity.
  • Review: posts and answers require moderator approval before other users see them. Your own content shows its review state. You can edit or delete your own posts and answers; editing published content can require another review.
  • Safety: report harmful content and block an account’s Community contributions. Community blocking is distinct from blocking a private partner.

There are no direct messages, matching or follower competitions. Journal memories cannot be published to Community through the app. Write a separate post and avoid revealing another person’s private information.

Our story: see what you have made.

A romantic view of your relationship, from its beginning to the little things you have done together. The relationship-duration card rotates through different ways to describe your time together.

  • Choose From and To dates to review a month, a year or your own date range. The default runs from your beginning or first memory through today.
  • Compact summaries group moments you keep, things made for you and play-and-discover experiences. Counts distinguish each partner’s contributions.
  • On This Day revisits eligible experiences from the current relationship. Milestones gathers meaningful dates without filling the page with large cards.
  • Open the digital book to choose and preview a keepsake. Past journals and their books remain separate from the current relationship.

A digital book, with your choices.

Open Profile → Our story → Our digital book. Your ordinary memories receive the space they deserve; questions, completed activities and other keepsakes add smaller details around them.

  • Open Book design to choose the title, cover, header and footer on a separate screen. See your selected image before saving; cover choices include journal photos and supplied artwork. Set the book’s start and end dates on the book page.
  • Pages we keep groups the months in your date range. Filter by the actual content categories, such as memories, bucket lists, letters, questions or challenges, then include or exclude individual items.
  • Either partner can exclude an item or content type. The other partner cannot undo that person’s exclusion.
  • Chapters organize the story by month. Linked experiences are deduplicated rather than appearing once as an activity and again as a second memory.
  • Check the actual PDF preview before downloading. A4 is the default; large histories are split into numbered volumes rather than silently shortened.

Unopened letters, unrevealed answers and private unfinished work do not belong in the shared book. Live keepsakes follow edits and access changes, but a file already exported to your phone is an independent copy.

Profile: you, your partner and your relationship.

Keep personal information and common relationship information in the right place. Settings is reached from this tab, rather than repeated in every screen.

  • You and your partner: separate personal profiles hold your name, birthday/age and optional personal details such as gender, city, bio and photo. Connected profile information is visible to the current partner.
  • Our relationship: together-since date, relationship status, where your story began, how it began and your status journey belong to the shared relationship.
  • Relationship history: add or correct status entries and their dates, including future entries. The associated keepsake and annual reminder follow the saved relationship date.
  • Gallery: browse and download journal photos. Saving to Photos may require the phone’s permission.
  • Theme: choose and preview one of six themes. Your theme choice does not change your partner’s theme.
  • Manage our journal: change its title and cover. The relationship-ending action has its own consequences and confirmation.
  • Community identity: maintain your optional posting names separately from private profile details.

Settings: practical choices, in one place.

Open Profile → Settings. Each destination has a separate job; account deletion does not duplicate subscription controls.

Your storage

Online usage and upload management. Where personal storage is enabled, owned uploads across current, Past and retained content use that account’s allowance; viewing a partner’s photos does not consume yours.

Offline data

Copies on this phone, waiting edits and conflict recovery. Remove downloaded photos to free device space without deleting cloud memories. New memories and uploads need a connection.

Notifications

All push notifications pauses alerts without changing your category choices. Memories & journal, Together, Letters, Dates & story, Community, and Account & storage each open focused controls. Quiet hours and reminder times use India time. See how alerts work.

Safety and privacy

Report concerns, manage private partner blocks and understand shared access and independent downloads. Community has its own reporting and blocking controls.

Plans & pricing

Separate Pro Pass, Memory allowance and Your storage sections show current coverage, personal creation usage and independently owned bytes. Restore and manage each subscription through its original purchasing store; the purchase sheet shows the final price.

Help and account

Using HumTum Diaries is the product guide. Report a problem sends an issue to support. About shows the installed version. Sign out leaves cloud content in place; Delete account starts a separate permanent-removal process.

Keep the boundaries clear.

Ending a relationship, removing a Past journal, blocking someone and deleting an account are different actions. Read the relevant confirmation rather than treating them as interchangeable ways to hide a screen.

  • Past history stays separate from a new relationship. A former partner does not gain access to the next journal.
  • Pending letters and scheduled surprises are cancelled when the relationship or access conditions invalidate delivery. Reopening a journal does not silently restart them.
  • Account deletion removes your own account and contributions through the deletion workflow while preserving the other person’s eligible contributions.
  • Journal data is cloud-stored and is not end-to-end encrypted. Downloaded photos and books cannot be recalled from someone else’s device.

For the binding terms and data practices that apply to a version, read its linked Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. The redesigned experiences policies remain separate from previously accepted agreement versions.

Need instructions, an error fixed or help with your account? Visit Support. To request deletion without installing the app, use the dedicated Delete account page.

Choose features and space separately

The bottom bar opens Memories, Together, Community and Profile, with a central plus to add a memory. Profile leads to Our story, Settings, Plans & pricing and Your storage.

Memories: know the two limits

Free allows three new ordinary memories per day and 20 per month per person; Pro-covered users receive 20 per day and 500 per month. Every successful new ordinary memory counts once, including text-only memories, with up to ten photos if personal storage permits. Edits, restores, automatic relationship keepsakes and linked Together items do not consume new-memory slots. There is no separate photo-count quota. Buying more storage changes bytes only.

Together: daily moments or the complete collection

Free includes moderator-scheduled daily and weekly content. Pro Pass unlocks other Create together and Play and discover destinations for its purchaser and current partner. Existing delivered letters and revealed results remain accessible after expiry; new premium creation needs coverage. Already sealed letters can deliver and started sessions can finish.

Our story: your keepsakes, your choice

Ordinary summaries, milestones and On This Day remain included. Digital-book reader, customization, personal preview and PDF export need own or current-partner Pass coverage. Each person can access only their own permitted current/Past journals. A Pass never reveals a partner's former journal. Without coverage, the book offers an introduction and upgrade choice.

Community: separate from your journal

Free allows two new post submissions per month and Pro coverage allows ten per person. Reading, reactions, answers and polls remain available under moderation and anti-spam rules. Pending submissions count, edits do not count again, and paid access does not guarantee publication. No private-journal publication shortcut exists.

Profile, plans and personal storage

Plans & pricing separates Pro Pass, Memory allowance and Your storage. Pass and storage can be purchased independently, even without a journal, and renew/cancel separately. Your own uploads across current, Past and retained journals consume your allowance; partner viewing does not. Pass expiry does not start photo deletion. Only verified storage expiry or downgrade can start an over-limit 60-day process for that owner's excess photos.

Your notification preferences

Open Profile → Settings → Notification preferences. All push notifications pauses push while preserving category choices. The detailed sections cover Memories & journal, Together, Letters, Dates & story, Community, and Account & storage. An enabled moderator also has workspace alerts. Turning off Memories leaves the other categories independent.

Daily reminders default to 8 PM and weekly reminders to Sunday at 8 PM, in India time. You can edit each reminder time. Optional quiet hours default to 10 PM–8 AM India time when enabled; they start switched off. Eligible reminders skip completed content and journals without a partner. Milestones, birthdays and Our beginning normally arrive at 9 AM India time. Delivery can be delayed or missed, and a letter opens by its authorized server time rather than push arrival.

Notification choices synchronize across registered devices. OS permission remains specific to each phone and does not silently switch off the account's categories. After onboarding, you can allow notifications or keep using the app; if permission is denied, the app directs you to device settings only when needed. App links open the relevant screen after sign-in and current access checks.

Essential account, billing, legal, support and storage emails are sent separately from push choices. There is no email opt-out for this service mail and no marketing, digest or engagement email campaign. For help, use Report a problem or email support@lovediary.in.

Begin with 1 month free

Pro Pass is 50% off in India: ₹299 ₹149/month or ₹2,999 ₹1,499 for the full year. These are the current purchase and renewal prices. Apple or Google Play confirms the final price before you subscribe. Personal storage is purchased separately.

How does 1 month free work?

Eligible new Pro Pass subscribers can confirm a monthly or yearly subscription and payment method in Apple or Google Play, then both partners receive Pro immediately for one store-managed calendar month. No subscription payment is due at confirmation for an eligible free trial, although your provider may apply a temporary verification hold. Unless cancelled in the purchasing store by its stated deadline, the first charge follows the trial at the current 50% off prices: ₹149 monthly or ₹1,499 for the full year in India. Your store confirms the authoritative price and exact first-charge date; annual billing is not a monthly installment.

How do I avoid the first charge?

Open Profile → Settings → Plans & pricing → Manage Pro Pass, then cancel in the original purchasing store before its deadline. Apple advises cancelling at least 24 hours before a free trial ends. Deleting the app or account does not cancel a store subscription. Your store confirms whether access continues after cancellation. A first-charge service reminder is scheduled three days before the verified trial end only while renewal is enabled; it is not a guarantee of delivery or a substitute for checking your store.

Does a trial add photo storage or restart on restore?

No. Each person keeps their own 20 MB or separately purchased storage. Storage add-ons have no trial. Restoring checks the original account's verified purchases; reinstalling, changing partners or switching monthly/yearly does not reset store trial eligibility. When a trial ends without paid coverage, existing content retains the stated Free protections. The Pass itself never starts photo cleanup.

Where do I see the first payment date?

Plans & pricing shows the purchaser's verified trial end; the purchasing store is authoritative for the exact first-charge date and cancellation deadline. Temporary verification or unavailable eligibility must not be treated as confirmation of a free trial. Supported payment methods, including any UPI AutoPay option, depend on the store account, bank and provider. HumTum Diaries never receives card details, bank credentials or UPI PINs.

App lock and your Home Screen widget

How does App lock work?

Open Profile → Settings → App lock. Your phone checks Face ID, a fingerprint or its device passcode; HumTum Diaries does not receive your biometric data or passcode. This choice applies only to this device. App lock also hides relationship details from the widget while enabled; your phone controls when the widget refreshes.

What appears on the Home Screen widget?

Open Profile → Settings → Home screen widget for your phone’s setup steps. On iPhone, Our little forever comes in one compact rectangular size. On Android, you can resize it. The widget can show your current journal’s title, names, relationship status, days together and beginning date; larger Android layouts can also show where your story started. These appear outside the app. Remove the widget through your phone’s controls when you no longer want it visible. Journal edits refresh while HumTum Diaries is running or when it next opens, and your phone manages background updates.

Your notification history

Open the bell beside the calendar on Memories for up to 30 days of account updates, grouped by date with India-time timestamps. Opening an update marks it read; use its menu to mark it read or unread, or choose Mark all read. Read state synchronizes across your devices and is not shared as a partner read receipt.

History is separate from push delivery. Relevant updates can appear here even when a push is dismissed, system permission is declined, or a category is switched off. Your push preferences still control pushes. Only supported events captured after the feature becomes available can appear; older dismissed pushes are not recovered.

A linked update checks your current access before opening. Deleted, blocked, sealed or otherwise unavailable content stays unavailable. History contains discreet update text rather than private words, photos, sealed letters or hidden answers. Expired entries leave the page after 30 days; short-lived operational delivery records follow a separate seven-day schedule.
